The Redwings fans showed up in mass as if they knew it was going to be a big night for their team.  The Fever entered the pitch and gave their usual honor to Nurgle and took the field with confidence.  The Redwings won the coin toss and in a pivotal move elected to kick to the Fever.  The Fever could not capitalize on this good fortune.  There were no injuries what so ever in the first half not even a single KO.  It seemed that the Fever should have given their dues to Nuffle instead of Nurgle.  Toward the end of the first half Suhey appeared to have a guaranteed touchdown but stumbled at the goalline.  This was a heavey blow to the Fever.  During his halftime pep talk coach Thistle worked his beasts and Sluggo into a fever for their inept hitting.  This must have lit a spark as they racked up 4 casualties in the second half alone.  But it was too little too late.  The Redwings scored on their posession.  As the teams set up for what was to be the final drive of regulation, storm clouds rolled in and unleashed a torrential rain that would prove to be the Fevers ultimate demise.  Ball handling became too difficult even though the Redwings were well undermanned at this point and weren’t able to mount effective defenses.  As the Fever walked off the pitch in shame and enetered the locker room coach Thistle awaited the team with news.  The Fever had been selected as Coach Thistle’s representatives in the premire league. There is no shame in losing.  The Redwings played a good game and reaped the rewards.

The coin flip went in favor of the Red Wings.  The plagued opponents where stunned to see the coach let the Fever take the ball in the first half.  Holmstrom had a good kick placing the ball right on the line of scrimmage.  And as hoped the Wings got their blitz on the kickoff moving players near the ball.  However, with 3 players with disturbing presence nearby, The Wings didn’t position themselves right underneath the ball and decided to let it bounce.  It bounced just along the line of scrimmage so the Wings still had two players next to the ball.  However, the Fever didn’t have a problem dispursing those players and getting the ball anyhow.  The Fever took control and eyed a scoring chance, but poor feet from a pestigor with the ball resulted in a him loosing the ball.  Luck was definately in the favor of Dragontown again.  The Wings swooped in and picked up the ball and moved it down field scoring in the last seconds of the first half making it 1-0 Wings at the half and recieving in the second.  The weather changed in the second half makinf ball handling extreemely difficult.  The Wings first decided upon a game of ball control, but tried to leave scoring opportunities.  However, an oppening presented itself if Sid Abel could get himself free.  He too had poor feet and caused an early turnover giving an opening for Dengue to come in and take the ball.  But the Wings where able to retrieve the ball again and left limited time on the clock.  Out came the inducements, none really helped.  The wizard failed and the ring of teleportation didn’t take the Wing with the ball far enough downfield and away from the blitzing players, etc.  Dengue still had their last second chance to retrieve the ball and score to tie… they knocked down the ball carrier and got the ball with the player the wizard was commanded to bolt, but failed to do so.  He then attempted a pass but it fumbled at his feet with no reroll left.  Luck and weather again a factor… a 1-0 victory for the Wings.

However, dispite obtaining a victory in the minor cup, it was bitter sweet.  It was made verbally clear that I was outplayed, which may have been true… but I think the team did well, not great, dispite the 400k team value difference, weather, disturbing presence, and their own bad luck at key points, making the high elf passing attack (their bread and butter) difficult.  Then other comments by fans where made, nuff said.  The long trip home was difficult...
