"So what are we up against now captain?"

Sven Quique looked at the pitch and then at the stands.  "Looks like a freshman fairy upstart sensation is ready to take us on for the semi-finals Aden.  They can handle the ball with ease, have some kind of freak mutant elf who can match Jager in strength, and have burned through the league in their rookie season like no one’s business."

"So what do we have going for us Sven?  I mean I hate fairies and all but its time to put the cleats on the pitch."

"All right you vanier’s!!!!  Gather round!!!!  These elves are going to out handle the ball and if we drop the pigskin you can be sure they will pick it up and put it in our endzone.  We have four things going for us and if we can make the most of them, we may squeak by these fairies and make it into the big game.  We have the strength of our Ulfwerners and Jager.  We have the skill and experience of a team that has been through the playoffs before.  And we have me.  My oath to the rest of you is that if yu can get that f@#king pigskin in my paws, I will take it into the endzone and put a point on the board for the Storm of Mjolnir.  Are you with me!?!?!?!?!?"

In 16 part unison....  "STORM HOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

***

As the Storm walk off the pitch energized by their performance and the incredible luck and skill displayed by both teams, the Head Coach stopped them all outside the dug out.

"You blokes are all playing your heart out today, and for nuffle’s sake you betteer not quit on me now.  We are just getting started.  you next game is the most important one you have faced all your career, so you better sack up and get your head back in this sucker because we can’t go this far to not win!!!  Our star linebacker Mars is out for the next game.  The apothacaries tried but could not get him ready.  Bjomolf Far could not pull it together either, so I put his leadership abilities on the coaching staff and replaced him with his brother Bjogmor.  They already have a couple of new defensive plays under their hat so, lets get to work!!!!"

As the Aces entered the pitch the fans cheered for the elves.  Even though they were the #2 seed they had a tall order to fill in order to put themselves in their rightful place in the finals of the Spike Cup.  Their agility and excelent coaching would have to carry them over the brutish and undignified humans.  It was almost offensive to watch the unwashed storm enter the pitch in the tattered womens clothes that they call uniforms.

To start the game the elves kicked off to the Storm.  The Storm proceeded for two turns to manhandle and stun the entire Aces lineup.  There was little the Aces could do but watch the Storm score.  After the first score the Aces coach threw their water cooler onto the pitch in protest of the obviously shoddy officiating.  This display was very reminiscent of the antics of the famous Lustrian coach Omi Lizzorda. Despite the dominance displayed in that first drive the Storm did not do any real damage.  Coach Thistle’s antics lit a fire in the elven team.  They turned the tables on the Norsemen and put on a show of strength that kept the Storm’s apothicary and training staff busy for the rest of the half and most of the second half.  The second half came to an end as Ace’s star Blitzer "Split" failed to catch a beautiful pass that would have tied the game.  This play would come back to haunt the elves.

The remaining second in the second half marked by a 2-2 tie appeared to be sending the game into overtime until the norse runner Sven Quique miraculously burst out of a heap of elves and stood in the endzone as time expired to propel the norse to the Spike finals.

It is rumored that the Storm plan to move to the premier league after this tournament.  Since it appears that the norsemen are running to the safety of the premier league the Aces will have to exact revenge on their farm team when they get their legs under them.

Coach Thistle tips his hat to the norse for a well played game.  NOW GO BATHE YOURSELVES!!!
